Servings: 4 | Time: 6-8 hours
Ingredients:
-
1 cup low sodium soy sauce
-
3 tbsp maple syrup
-
¼ cup lime juice
-
1 tsp liquid smoke
-
1 tsp garlic powder
-
2 tbsp smoked paprika
-
1 tsp steak spice
-
2 tsp sambal
-
1 tsp ground black pepper
-
Dried mushrooms (we suggest using Turkey Tail, but you can use Maitake, Shiitake, or King Oyster)
-
1 cup coconut oil
-
1 dropper (1ml) Turkey Tail Tincture
Instructions:
Step 1: Prepare the Mushrooms
-
Slice the dried mushrooms into 1/8 – 1/4 inch thick pieces.
-
Heat coconut oil and pour over the mushrooms to coat them evenly. This helps soften the mushrooms before marinating.
Step 2: Make the Marinade
-
In a bowl, mix together the soy sauce, maple syrup, lime juice, liquid smoke, garlic powder, smoked paprika, steak spice, sambal, black pepper, and Turkey Tail Tincture.
Step 3: Marinate the Mushrooms
-
Add the oiled mushrooms to the marinade.
-
Mix well until the mushrooms are fully coated.
Step 4: Cook the Mushrooms
-
Place the mushrooms in a pot and cover with water.
-
Bring to a boil, then lower the heat to a simmer.
-
Cook until the mushrooms are softened, adding more water if needed.
-
Let the liquid boil off completely.
Step 5: Dehydrate the Mushrooms
-
Dehydrate the mushrooms for 4-6 hours or until they reach your preferred dryness.
Step 6: Serve
-
Enjoy your Turkey Tail Mushroom Jerky!
